Board President Loretta Maes-Bischoff shares, “As Executive Director, Nancy brings her passion for helping nonprofits, and her keen business sense which will support Many Mothers’ growing needs.”

Guthrie comes to Many Mothers with extensive experience in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Most recently she has been consulting for several nonprofit organizations in Los Alamos. She earned a Masters of Public Administration in 2014 from Southern Utah University. While working on that degree, Guthrie supported numerous development and administrative projects for a local homeless shelter and food bank.

Board member Shasta Brooks commented, “We are absolutely thrilled to have Nancy Guthrie join Many Mothers.  She is enthusiastic about our mission and has lots of great ideas to help us to better serve families with newborns in and around Santa Fe.”

Many Mothers was founded by Santa Fe resident Anne McCormick in 1999. Before her passing in 2008, McCormick built a caring organization that provides vital support to families with newborns. Guthrie writes, “I am so honored to be part of this wonderful organization. The board and staff are all amazing. I am looking forward to building on the legacy that Anne McCormick created.”

Volunteers are essential to Many Mothers’ mission, to “contribute to a healthy and vital Santa Fe community by providing free, in-home care and support to any Santa Fe family with a newborn.” Many Mothers volunteers are extensively trained and carefully matched with families. McCormick attributed most of the success of Many Mothers to the volunteers. “Yes,” she once said, “I think I’ve made a difference, but I couldn’t have done it myself.”

Many Mothers was established in 1999 to provide essential support for families with newborns. Women who are expecting or who have recently had a baby may contact Many Mothers at or 505-983-5984. More information is available at
